Specialized Massage Modalities

Clothed Massage

There are many types of massage that can be received with clothing on that are equally effective as traditional massage. Comfortable cotton clothes work best for these kinds of modalities which include Shiatsu, Thai massage, Reflexology and sports massage. Energetic therapies such as Craniosacral therapy and Polarity are performed clothed.

Thai Massage

Thai massage is preformed fully clothed and includes a blend of various styles of massage including, acupressure, yoga and shiatsu. Compression, pulling, stretching, and rocking are techniques used to relieve tension.

Shiatsu Therapy

Shiatsu therapy focuses on using pressure points to release muscles and align energy flow. The therapist may use a variety of tools to stimulate pressure points including hands, elbows, knees, and feet. Individuals receiving Shiatsu massage can remain fully clothed.

Sports Injury Treatment

Sports Injury Treatment can help to remove stiffness and restore movement. Increasing circulation and relaxing muscles allows oxygen and blood to encourage quicker healing in injured areas. Sports injury treatments can be performed on an individual who remains clothed.

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy uses light touch to manipulate the synarthrotic joints of the cranium. Holding is applied to the spine and pelvis to encourage fascia release and stimulate craniosacral fluid flow. Individuals receiving this type of treatment may remain clothed.

Polarity

Polarity therapy is a holistic approach to balancing the subtle energy systems of the body through gentle body work, nutrition, and exercise. Polarity therapy blends rocking movement, holding, and sustained pressure to restore energetic balance, reduce pain, and improve overall health. Individuals receiving this type of treatment can remain clothed.

Pre/Post-Natal Massage

Pre and post natal massage helps to relax and restore the body before and after the rigors of childbirth. Alternative positioning and light pressure are used on prenatal clients.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release uses gentle sustained pressure directed at the muscles and fascia to release shortness and tightness in the muscle.

Fibromyalgia Treatment

Therapeutic massage for fibromyalgia patients utilizes varied techniques to help relieve the symptoms of fibromyalgia such as, chronic pain, fatigue and sleep disturbances, and depression and anxiety. The level of pressure employed will always be according to each individuals needs and tolerances.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is based on Western massage concepts such as anatomy and physiology.  Light pressure and long sweeping strokes towards the heart are used to relax the body and promote health and wellness. This style is very relaxing and great for individuals new to massage.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is like Swedish but deeper pressure is used to release muscles and fascia. Deep tissue helps to bring awareness into the structure and realignment to the body.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage is perfect through the cold winter months. Adding heat to the flow relaxes the body even more and the stones give that extra pressure directly from the Earth. (hour and a half minimum)

Reflexology

Reflexology stimulates reflexes in the feet and hands that directly affect the glands, organs, muscle and bones of the body.
